About Me

I have been practicing massage and holistic health for many years, and have worked with energetic healing since the age of 13.  After training in Oakland, CA in the East Bay Area, I decided to focus on deep tissue therapy and back, neck, and shoulder issues and postural distortions.  While working part-time as a massage therapist, I also worked with athletes of many different levels as both a massage therapist and a certified personal fitness trainer.

I received additional private training in 1995 in Sacramento, CA and in 1997 moved to Laguna Beach.  In 2000 I began receiving additional training at the International Professional School of Bodywork (IPSB) in San Diego, where I increased my knowledge of basic and advanced massage techniques ranging from deep tissue to CranioSacral Therapy and Thai massage, and also completed internships in Classical Chinese Tui Na massage and Seitai Shiatsu, as well as the Rolf Method of Structural Integration (commonly known as “Rolfing”).  In 2001 I studied at the Beijing Massage Hospital, making rounds with doctors and working on patients at the hospital.

In April, 2003 I joined the Spa Montage team and was one of the first graduates of the 270-hour ASTECC Certification program, and became one of Spa Montage’s first Surrender Therapists.  I was also Spa Montage’s first Certified Holistic Aromatherapist, having completed a 340-hour program through the Australasian College of Health Sciences in Portland, OR.  In 2008, I was accepted for private mentoring by Ed Maupin, PhD, my Rolfing instructor, who was trained in the Rolf Method of Structural Integration directly by Ida Rolf in 1968.

As a healer, I combine many different modalities to address the needs of each individual.  In addition to classical Swedish massage, deep tissue therapy, and sports massage techniques, I incorporate different types of energy work – I am an 18th Degree Reiki Grandmaster in the Usui System of Natural Healing (Usui Teate) and also practice Jin Shin Acutouch (which is based on Jin Shin Jyutsu and uses meridians similar to those in Chinese Medicine).  I also hold a Level Four Adept Certification in the Ruach Healing method.  I am a longtime professional-level member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and one of California’s first State-certified massage therapists (CAMTC #131).   I also offer discounts for students, seniors (age 65 and up), military, firefighters, law enforcement, and people with AIDS, cancer, or other serious conditions.

In 2013 I left the Montage after 10 years to launch my aromatherapy company, "aroma*balance: purposeful aromatherapy by noel dial" and, because I began spending more time in San Diego again, joined the team at another Triple Five Star property (the only other one in CA), the Fairmont Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa. In June 2014 I also spent a year working with Linda-Anne Kahn and her team of professionals at Beauty Kliniek Aromatherapy Day Spa and Wellness Center in San Diego, in order to gain more experience working as a clinical aromatherapist and certified lymphedema therapist.

In addition to bodywork, I am passionate about learning, and love to travel.  I stay fit through weightlifting, yoga, and swimming, and also have a black belt (Shodan rank) in Shaolin Kempo (Kung Fu).  I also enjoy kayaking, whitewater rafting, hiking, and mountain biking, and recently took up surfing and stand up paddleboarding.  I have studied and continue to study the Kabbalah and am an advocate of yoga, meditation, chiropractic care, and acupuncture.  I also hold a Level 2 Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers.
